Defects.
Any component missing, malformed, corroded, fractured, or otherwise damaged.
Any component loose, detached, not as specified, or otherwise not securely retained.
Threads not as specified.
Any threads missing, stripped, torn, broken, or otherwise defective.
Pump surface rough, misaligned, or containing cracks, nicks, burrs, sharp edges, or other flaws.
Surface unclean or containing embedded foreign matter.

Sampling for tests. Sampling for tests, including dimensional test, shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-sTD-105, with an AQL of 2.5 (percent defective) and an inspection level of S-1. The unit of product for test purposes shall be one manual inflating pump.
Tests
Operating force test. The pump shall be held in a vertical position with the handle up and fully extended with the air outlet open. A weight of 1 pound applied to the handle shall, within 5 seconds, depress the plunger assembly to the full “in” position. Failure of this test shall constitute a defect.
Pump leakage test. The plunger handle shall be fully extended and the air outlet capped. With the pump in a vertical position, a 15-pound force applied in line with the longitudinal axis of the pump shall not bring the plunger assembly to the fully returned position in less than 30 seconds. Failure of this test shall constitute a defect.
