PUMP, INFLATING, MANUAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a manually-operated inflating pump of the single-cylinder plunger type suitable for inflating low pressure pneumatic pillows and mattresses.
Salient characteristics:
The inflating pump shall be a manually-operated, single-cylinder, plunger type suitable for inflating low pressure pneumatic pillows and mattresses.
The cylinder shall be black, paper-based phenolic laminate tubing, approximately 3 inches in outside diameter and approximately 10 inches in length. The cylinder shall be silicone-graphite lubricated. The air discharge outlet shall have an internal .302 - 32 thread and external 1/2 – 14 thread, 3/8 inch to 1/2 inch long. The threads shall not be stripped, torn, broken, or otherwise defective.
The overall length of the pump shall not exceed 14 inches.
The total weight of the pump shall not exceed 26 ounces. No adapters or hose shall be furnished.
Carbon steel parts of the pump shall be plated or painted to resist corrosion. Painting of moveable parts shall not interfere with the operation of the unit.
The surface of the pump shall not be rough, misaligned, or contain cracks, nicks, burrs, sharp edges, or other flaws.
The pump surface shall be clean and shall not contain embedded foreign matter.
The pump shall successfully pass the operating force test, the leakage test, and the impact test, as specified.
